Almost 7 weeks!

We can't believe it's almost been 7 weeks since little Elizabeth (peanut) has been born. Elizabeth has started to recognize people and has started smiling, which totally melts our hearts. She loves her swing and little duck mobile. Mommy and daddy have been getting a little bit more sleep, which is great. Last night she actually slept for 5 hours in a row. Amazing! More than anything our little Saggitarius is a mover. She is constantly moving her legs and arms and loves being carried around to look at the world around her.

First Bath

This was totally fun. Prior to Elizabeth's first immersion bath, we had been giving her washcloth baths as we waited for her umbilical cord to heal. Elizabeth loves the water, and while her little frown emerged at first, there were no tears, and after a while, some happy sounds!

Little Milestones

Elizabeth is 3 weeks and 2 days old. She continues to amaze us every day. Although she is still very young, we are noticing small milestones and changes in her every day. Here are some significant ones:
1. Thumb sucking & arm control. While she hasn't achieved it yet, it is clear that Elizabeth cannot wait to suck her thumbs. One hand holds the other hand as she attempts to get her thumb in her mouth. The other day she actually got it in there for 10 seconds! Her arms are more in control and less spasmodic. She seems to be surprising herself less and less with her arm movements.

2. Rolling over. Yes, we have friends that witnessed this, and I promise it has not been something we have been practicing with her, but rather something she has done on her own. Elizabeth is a mover, she loves to move all the time, and the other day she rolled from her back to her tummy. She still can't roll back the other way, but we're amazed she has come this far so quickly.

3. Happy sounds. While we were used to a newborn who just cried when she was wet, had gas, or was hungry, we're now starting to notice other sounds from her. When on her changing table, Elizabeth is in love with her name tapestry, and will stare at it for about 3 minutes, then move her arms and legs up and down and give a little squeal of delight. She also does this when mommy and daddy read to her.
